Barbro Klein Prize

The Barbro Klein Prize in Nordic and Baltic Folklore is awarded by the Nordic and Baltic Folklore Section to a student for an outstanding conference paper, article-length essay, or research-based media production on a folklore topic having to do with Northern Europe and/or the diasporas of its various peoples. Submissions of articles may be at any stage of the publication process: unpublished, under review, accepted for publication, or already in print (if published since the most recent AFS meeting); should not exceed 10,000 words; and must be written in English. Please include relevant images, such as figures, tables, illustrations, or presentation slides. Media productions (films, radio features, documentary sound recordings, websites, and the like) must be completed and fully accessible in English. Submissions are due every year by September 15.

The prize consists of a $300 award. Students who wish to be considered must submit their work online by September 15 using the AFS Prize Application Form.

Submissions should be as PDF or Word file. The chair of the prize committee will distribute your submission to a panel of three for evaluation.

Please contact Marcus Cederström ([email protected]) with your questions.
