Maxwell Museum (UNM) Special Series: Community Engagement in the Museum

The University of New Mexico’s (UNM) Maxwell Museum of Anthropology welcomes you to attend a special series of programming at the 2024 AFS annual meeting in Albuquerque on the topic of Community Engagement in the Museum.

This series features three special programs on Friday, Nov. 8 from 1:30-7pm MT at the Maxwell Museum on UNM’s beautiful campus: 

AFS members are encouraged to join us for all three sessions but folks can drop in only to one or two should they wish.

The Maxwell Museum is located at 500 University Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87131; the UNM Dept. of Anthropology is adjacent, at 450 University Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87131.

SERIES AGENDA & BUS SCHEDULE

12:15 – 12:30 pm: Bus will be parked, facing south on 2nd Street, on the eastside of the Convention Center right outside one of the main doors loading up passengers.

12:30: First departure of bus from the Convention Center to the Maxwell Museum

1:15 – 1:30 pm
: Arrivals and museum access

1:30 – 4:30 pm: “Mobilizing Heritage in Museums” double forum session, in the Maxwell’s Hibben Center for Archaeology Research, Rm 105

4:30 – 5:30 pm: Reception with Food from Diné/Navajo Chef Cleo Otero

5:30 – 7:00 pm: A Special Performance of Korean Immigrant Dance in America, by Chi-Chung Kim, Jung Bae Park, Myeong Soon Choi, and Vong Pak.

7:30 pm: Last Bus departs from the Maxwell Museum to the Convention Center
