Dorothy Botkin Rosenthal (1934–2024)

Past AFS President Ellen Stekert reports the death of Dorothy Botkin Rosenthal, daughter of Benjamin A. Botkin and long-time friend of the field of folklore. Rosenthal passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024 after a brief illness.

In 2023, the Botkin family gave a major gift to the American Folklore Society (AFS) to endow the Benjamin A. Botkin Prize, an annual prize given to honor significant lifetime achievement in public folklore.
