The Department of Comparative Studies at The Ohio State University seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP) in Folklore to begin in the 2025 Autumn Semester. This position will end on August 14, 2026; however, there is a potential of renewal for up to three years.

The VAP will be charged with teaching the department’s Introductory Folklore and Global Folklore courses. In addition, the VAP will have the opportunity to teach a course in their own specialization and participate in the department’s team-taught, yearlong sequence that is designed to provide graduate students with skills relevant to public humanities scholarship. The Folklore VAP is expected to teach six courses per year. More information about the folklore curriculum can be found here.

An earned PhD is the minimum requirement for appointment at the rank of assistant professor.
