Announcing the AFC’s 2023 Community Collections Grant Recipients

The American Folklife Center announced the 2023 recipient cohort of the Community Collections Grants program. Over this year, recipients will undertake cultural research and documentation projects focused on a wide range of cultural traditions and practices across the U.S. and territories. Their work will ultimately be included in the Library’s permanent collections, as part of the Center’s archives.
The Community Collections Grants program is part of the Library’s Of the People: Widening the Path initiative. Over multiple years, and since 2022, the grants are awarded to individuals and organizations across the country working to document their cultures and traditions, particularly communities and groups who are underrepresented in the Library’s collections. This year, of the extremely diverse applicants and projects, a mix of individuals and organizations have been chosen to receive up to $60,000 each to fund their research and documentation activities.
