Assistant/Associate/Full Professor Position in Ethnomusicology at UC Berkeley

The Department of Music at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, in Ethnomusicology (open rank and open field of research). Applications open August 2, 2022 through September 18, 2022 at 11:59 pm (Pacific Time).
The main criteria guiding our selection of candidates will not be based on pre-selected geographic areas of study. They will be based on the following qualifications: a scholar of ethnomusicology who has ethnographic experience and a deep knowledge of the discipline; who is making significant contributions to it, both theoretically and methodologically; who demonstrates innovative thinking by asking new questions about old or new musical practices in connection with the political, economic, social, cultural, technological, or ecological realities that inform them; and whose commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging informs their theoretical or conceptual frameworks and methodological approaches as well as their course contents and pedagogy.
