CFP: Conference Panels on Global Asias

Calls for Submissions

Verge: Studies in Global Asias, an academic journal sponsored by the Penn State Department of Asian Studies and published by the University of Minnesota Press, will be sponsoring Global Asias panels and roundtables at the upcoming Association for Asian Studies (AAS) and Association for Asian American Studies (AAAS) conferences. Verge’s goal is to help generate and support work that straddles or otherwise navigates the differences and overlaps between Asian Studies, Asian American Studies, and Asian Diaspora Studies as intellectual formations and interdisciplines. Accordingly, Verge is putting out a call for panel proposals for the 2022 AAS and AAAS conferences. Several panel or roundtable proposals will be selected for each conference. If a proposal is selected, Verge will help proposers constitute panels and roundtables by advertising CFPs. Panels and roundtables accepted for the conference program will be tagged as “sponsored by Verge” and we will work with organizers to promote them to audiences interested in Global Asias scholarship.

The AAS conference is scheduled for March 24-27, 2022, in Honolulu, Hawai’i. The AAAS conference is scheduled for April 14-16, 2022 in Denver, CO.  If you are interested in submitting a panel proposal for consideration for Verge sponsorship, please send a 250-word panel abstract along with a 2-page CV to [email protected] by the following deadlines: July 16, 2021 (for AAS) and August 13, 2021 (for AAAS). For questions regarding the conferences, visit Verge or email [email protected].
