CFP: Folklorists at Work

Calls for Submissions

The AFS@MLA Committee and the Fairy Tale, Myth, and Folklore Forum seek folklorists to participate in two roundtable discussions at the next Modern Language Association Convention. Proposals are due by March 17, 2022.

The convention will be held in San Francisco from January 5-8, 2023. Its theme is “working conditions.” The committee and forum seek panel topics that will highlight the working conditions of folklorists in many different types of settings.

Topics may include:

  • What are the major issues facing the profession?
  • What are the trends concerning academic programs in folklore and institutional support?
  • Is there an occupational culture for folklorists, and if so, has it changed in response to recent developments?

To submit a proposal, send a 300-word abstract of how you perceive working conditions for folklorists, as well as a one-page CV, to both Jim Deutsch and Veronica Schanoes.

We sometimes make mistakes, and we are happy to correct any errors that you may come across on our site. If you find an error, please let us know using the “submit a correction” link.

  • This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
