The Utah-based web publication recently profiled folklorist Elaine Thatcher in honor of her retirement as executive director of the Summerfest Arts Faire in Logan County, UT.

Thatcher is an independent folklorist who ran the event for more than seven years.

From the article:

Thatcher used her extensive background in arts administration to professionalize the organization and strengthen one of Logan’s outstanding summer events.

Over her tenure of executive director, she upgraded performance stages, secured partnerships with several non-profit organizations, and grew the number of artists to about 160.

She has earned numerous awards along the way including the 2006 prestigious Benjamin Botkin Prize from American Folklore and two Humanities Awards from Utah Humanities for programs she designed.
