The Dance and Movement Analysis Section brings together scholars and practitioners who explore the communal and cultural dimensions of dance and movement traditions. As folklorists, we are interested in how embodied knowledge is transmitted in vernacular and institutional contexts, how social and theatrical traditions intersect, how performers negotiate and innovate performance conventions, and what is expressed and communicated through performance.
