Southwest Folk Alliance is seeking a a Program Coordinator (contract) for ClimateLore, an oral history project documenting climate risk, loss, and adaptation in two desert regions of the US-Mexico borderlands.

ClimateLore is a partnership between SFA, T.O. Young Voices Podcast (TOYVP) and La Semilla Food Center (LSFC). Interviews will focus on climate histories, threats to folklife and cultural heritage practices, and adaptive strategies in both the Sonoran and Chihuahuan Deserts.

Rate: $35/hour, 20 hours/month

Contract Period: February 2024 – July 2025.

The Program Coordinator coordinates ClimateLore activities as they interface with SFA, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Coordinating SFA Administration to manage payment/admin paperwork of all project personnel and partners;
  • Scheduling virtual and in-person training peer networking sessions;
  • Scheduling guest presenters; communicating with partner project managers to assess progress and address needs/issues/concerns;
  • Ensuring interviews are prepared properly for archiving;
  • Receiving interview material for BorderLore;
  • Assisting in coordination of any necessary translation of interviews;
  • Reporting to funders on project.
