Support At-Risk Afghan Scholars, Artists, and Staff

The Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) has established a GoFundMe page to raise funds that will go toward providing logistical support, visa support, and assistance in finding workplaces in different countries for Afghan scholars, artists, musicians, and academic staff who have been displaced by the American military withdrawal from Afghanistan.
CAORC is a nonprofit federation of independent overseas research centers that promotes advanced research and is concerned with maintaining the cultural heritage in the countries in which they serve. CAORC American scholars work in partnership with local scholars to improve mutual understanding and knowledge. The organization is working on evacuation plans, but is considering how long that process will take and is looking to establish a fund to help support at-risk individuals who represent a “generation in Afghanistan” until they can find long-term placement in the US or abroad.
Through its overseas research centers, CAORC plans to provide support to at-risk Afghan scholars, artists, staff, and their dependents who evacuated from Afghanistan until a final permanent residence (either in the US or abroad) is established. Proceeds from this fundraising campaign will be used to support the costs of housing, food, transportation, and other basic necessities for these families in need.
