National Endowment for the Arts Premiers Mini-docs of the 2023 National Heritage Fellows

Last September, the National Endowment for the Arts celebrated the 2023 class of National Heritage Fellows in-person. They recently premiered a series of tribute films celebrating the lives and work of the nine awardees:

  • R.L. Boyce (1955-2023),
  • Ed Eugene Carriere (Suquamish),
  • Michael A. Cummings,
  • Joe DeLeon “Little Joe” Hernandez,
  • Roen Hufford,
  • Elizabeth James-Perry (Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head, Aquinnah),
  • Luis Tapia,
  • Wu Man, and
  • Nick Spitzer

Produced in partnership with the National Council on the Traditional Arts and Hypothetical Films, the films are now available for viewing and sharing on the NEA’s YouTube channel here as well as via this link.
