AFS Fellow Neil Rosenberg Awarded the 2025 IBMA Liner Notes of the Year

Renowned folk music scholar Neil V. Rosenberg wins the Liner Notes of the Year category of the 2025 International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Industry Awards for the liner notes he wrote for the album Earl Jam by Tony Trischka. The IBMA Industry Awards are given annually to industry professionals who are dedicated to furthering bluegrass music and its artists. The Liner Notes of the Year award recognizes outstanding work in the creation of liner notes for recorded bluegrass album projects.
Dr. Neil Rosenberg is Professor Emeritus of Folklore at Memorial University, where he taught from September 1968 until his retirement in September 2004. He is the only Canadian member of the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and the author of Bluegrass: A History (University of Illinois Press, 1985) and many other works. He is a Fellow of the American Folklore Society and a longtime AFS member.
