JAF Calls for Submissions for Themed Issue on AI and Folklore
The JAF Editorial Collective invites submissions addressing any aspect of generative AI and folklore for a themed issue of the Journal of American Folklore. Some examples of topics include, but are not restricted to:
- Novel (or not) forms of folkloristic expressions
- Research ethics and AI use
- Teaching folklore in the age of generative AI
- AI and its impact on fieldwork
- AI and cultural and/or environmental sustainability
We welcome long or short research articles, Perspectives, or other unconventional approaches to the topic. See JAF/Submit for more information. Please contact the JAF Editors at JAF.editors@afsnet.org for feedback or guidance as you consider your submission.
Essays should be submitted through the JAF Submissions Portal by February 1, 2026. Successful submissions will be slated for publication in the Winter 2027 issue.
