Karen “Queen Nur” Abdul-Malik

Queen Nur is an award-winning International Storyteller, Independent Folklorist and Teaching Artist.

For 29 years she has enthralled thousands in over 36 states, West Africa, and Canada.

Queen was the Emcee for the National Endowment for the Arts Heritage Fellowship Awards Concert in 2019 and 2020.

A Goucher MACS Alumni, she curated a foodways exhibition, “Tastefully South Jersey,” created a podcast series, Upon Our Authority: 100 Years of Women’s Empowerment in South Jersey through Folklife and Oral Expression, and designed the H.E.A.R We Are Project consisting of oral histories and the development of listening platforms by a community-based collective.
