Last year, the Museum of International Folk Art (MOIFA) launched its inaugural Summer Research Fellowship Program, inviting applicants to spend 4–6 weeks in Santa Fe, NM to work on a research project related to MOIFA’s folk art collection as well as its Bartlett Library and Archives collections.

Continuing into its second year, the 2026 summer program is set to run between June 1 and August 31. Fellows will receive a $2,500 honorarium, travel reimbursement (up to $1,000), and additional stipends for lodging and living expenses. They will benefit from dedicated workspace, access to collections, library and archives, and opportunities for community immersion and public engagement.

Applications are due November 17, 2025. Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact MOIFA before submitting an application to discuss the level of access to the collections their proposed research project would require. Please consult the online resources about MOIFA’s collection and archives and then send any email inquiries to the Program Coordinator: Carrie Hertz, Phd, Curator of Textiles & Dress, at carrie.hertz@dca.nm.gov.
