The International Society for Folk Narrative Research (ISFNR) will hold its 2026 Interim conference June 13th to 16th at the main campus of the University of Iceland in Reykjavík. This will be a hybrid event, so delegates will be able to participate either virtually or in person.

The theme of the conference is “Nature(s) in Narrative”. Specifically, the organizers ask how narrative is entangled with nature in its various forms, situated in the micro and macro, the rural and urban, ranging from essentialist notions of the natural, the supernatural to non-binary assemblages of nature-culture.

Call for papers and posters for ISFNR2026 is now open and will run until 23:59 GMT on October 1, 2025. All proposals must be submitted via the organizers’ website.
