CFP: JMC Review Special Issue on “Pandemics, People, Politics”
The JMC Review is taking paper submissions for their interdisciplinary refereed e-journal of criticism, practice, and theory, covering a range of disciplines including anthropology, cultural studies, economics, education, literature, history, international relations, philosophy, political science, psychology, social work, law, human rights and sociology.
Volume 5 (2021) is centered on the theme, ‘Pandemics, People, Politics: Challenges and Futures’. This volume will focus on the pandemic not only as a global health crisis, but also on the political economy, and socio-cultural impact of pandemics in general, and how they impact broader challenges especially relating to the postcolony, magnified by the rise of populist and authoritarian tendencies, legal frameworks and carceralities, state surveillance and military interventions, the decline of democratic rights, climate and planetary disruptions, and challenges to people’s power, and other connected implications of the pandemic and its ongoing impacts on livelihood, cultures, and consumption.
The deadline has been extended to October 20, 2021. Submit proposals via email at [email protected]. For more information, visit Jesus and Mary College, New Delhi.
