Forming Cultural Lineages: Appropriation v. Inclusion

June 17, 2021 at 6:00 pm 8:00 pm EDT

The first of the Philadelphia Folklore Project’s four-part series on cultural appropriation will take place June 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM EDT. This panel will cover concerns on becoming integrated within a culture. How should we approach a culture that is not our own? When do we feel like we have a right to teach within that culture? How do we create, maintain, and honor cultural lineages?

Panelists include Madhusmita Bora, Kenneth “Skip” Burney, Rebecca Ka’awela Manandic, and Susan Hoffman-Watts. Read more about the panelists here.

You can tune into the panel via Facebook Live here: https://fb.me/e/F0pks6R1

RSVP to watch the panel via Zoom and/or if you would like to participate in the small group workshops immediately following the panel discussions.
