HistoryMiami Museum Seeks Folklife Associate
The Folklife Associate for the South Florida Folklife Center at HistoryMiami Museum manages the Miami Stories oral history program which includes collecting oral histories, processing and archiving stories, leading trainings for staff, and coordinating Miami Stories Recording Booth events and other story collecting events. This position also assists the Folklife Curator in managing Folklife public programs, including artist-in-residence programs, CultureFest 305, and other outreach events. Conducts ethnographic research for the South Florida Folklife Collection, including oral history interviews and photo and video documentation.
Qualifications:
- M.A. in folklore, ethnomusicology, anthropology or related discipline is preferred but not required with equivalent experience
- Experience with folklife initiatives or related projects and project management experience
- Experience in managing programs for public audiences, such as performances, panels, demonstrations, workshops, festivals, lectures, etc.
- Demonstrated experience with conducting field research, including recorded interviews
- Familiarity with audio equipment and camera
- Audio editing experience
Salary Range:Â $20-$22 per hour
