New Anthology “E c’erano gerani rossi dappertutto” Amplifies Voices of Italian Women of Diaspora

Recent Releases

The anthology E c’erano gerani rossi dappertutto will be released in Italy in both print and ebook formats on March 28, 2024. This anthology, published by Radici Edizioni, was meticulously curated by Valentina Di Cesare and Michela Valmori, with the aim of amplifying the voices of the Italian diaspora in North America, particularly through the lens of women who have experienced or confronted emigration firsthand. Featuring sixteen short stories and essays penned by U.S. and Canadian female authors of Italian descent (Rita Ciresi, Kathy Curto Joanna Clapps Herman, Loretta D’Orsogna, Luisa Del Giudice, Jean Feraca, Chiara Montalto Giannini, Annie Lanzillotto, Maria Laurino, Nadina LaSpina, Marianne Leone, Gail Reitano, Jennifer Romanello, Mary Saracino, Rosanna Staffa, Karen Tintori) this anthology delves into the complexities of identity and the enduring impact of migration on individuals and families.

Each narrative offers a unique perspective, reflecting on personal experiences and familial histories, and collectively weaving a rich tapestry of introspection and retrospection.

Ilaria Serra and Emanuele Pettener, esteemed professors at Florida Atlantic University and co-founders of “Strade Dorate – Observatory of Literature and Culture of the Italian and Italian-speaking Diaspora,” provided the afterword for the collection. Their insightful commentary adds depth and context to the themes explored within the anthology. This publication marks the beginning of a series of works centered around the theme of emigration to and from Italy. In addition to the Italian release, an ebook version in English will be available before the summer.
