New York Folklore Now Accepting Applications for Its 2026 Folklore/Folk Arts Internship
Applications are now being accepted for aĀ Folklore/Folk Arts Internship, supported through the Internship program of New York Folklore and the New York State Council on the Arts. This internship will be hosted by the New York State Old-Tyme Fiddlers Association and Hall of FameĀ in Redfield, NY.
The duration of the internship is 8 weeks, 30ā35 hours per week. It will occur from late June through August, 2026. The intern, with the assistance of organization volunteers will record interview recordings and create a plan to create more recordings of Northern New York fiddlers. Using digital technology, the intern will be the lead person conducting interview recording of fiddlers in upstate New York to grow the collection and archive that was begun in the 1980s. Any student enrolled in a masters or doctoral graduate folklore/ethnomusicology program or a Community Scholar with relevant experience may apply. Folklorists who graduated from a graduate folklore program in the past two years may also apply.
To apply, submit a resume or CV and a letter describing the potential benefits of the internship for the applicantās career goals as a public folklorist. For current graduate students, please reflect on the internshipās relationship to your graduate learning program. The application letter should also indicate how previous experiences in programming, field research and/or administration would contribute to the organization hosting the internship.
Applications must be received by midnight on March 31, 2026 and decisions about the
successful candidates will be made by April 10, 2026. Applications must be submitted
