Registration remains open for a 10-day summer school focused on traditional narrative: Mythos as MythUs: Facing and Overcoming Crises through Traditional Narrative from Antiquity to the Present, taught by an international faculty of folklorists from Greece, Italy, Sweden, and the United States.

Classes will be conducted in Athens near the Acropolis and on the island of Antiparos. The Summer School is a blended-learning program consisting of online preparation classes preceding the 10 days of face-to-face instruction and guided tours. The program contains 9 modules divided into 3 groups, each with its distinct topic:

  • Myth in Ancient Greek and other Ancient Cultures
  • Roles of Myth and Legend in Response to Dread, Disruption, and Disaster
  • Narrating in Modern and Contemporary Society

Although the first module stresses ancient myth and the third stresses contemporary folklore, each module addresses myth and legend across cultures and time periods. Each student will select a study topic based on descriptions provided on the school’s website.

The program is open to Bachelors, Masters and PhD students. Detailed information is available on the school’s website: https://mythus-aegean.eu/ . The Summer School runs from June 24 – July 3, 2024.

Registration closes in late March 2024. To secure a slot and receive more information, visit the website and fill out a registration form by March 17.
