We are sad to announce that folklorist Rosan A. Jordan passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025 in New Orleans. She was accompanied by close friends and died peacefully. A pioneer in women’s folklore scholarship, Rosan and her husband, esteemed folklorist Frank De Caro, established vital folklore positions at Louisiana State University. Her works include Women’s Folklore, Women’s Culture, co-edited with Susan Kalcik, and Resituating Folklore: Folk Contexts in Twentieth-Century Literature and Art, co-authored with Frank De Caro, among other titles. She will be missed.

A full obituary is forthcoming.
