SoundLore, the Indiana University Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology podcast, recently featured AFS Director of Membership and Information Systems Meredith McGriff and former AFS graduate assistant Jesse Fivecoate with their co-editor, Kristina Downs in an episode on their new edited volume Advancing Folkloristics.

The book outlines ways that people with degrees in folklore can advance the field and move into new spaces through interdisciplinary public work as well as scholarship.

In this episode of SoundLore, Indiana University folklore PhD candidate Caroline Miller interviews McGriff, Downs and Fivecoate on the process of writing and publishing the volume, and what might be next for the discipline.
