University of Oregon Seeks Craft Center Assistant Program Director

The EMU Craft Center is a comprehensive arts program offering 300+ workshops/classes per year and open studios providing educational and recreational opportunities for UO students. The Craft Center Assistant Program Director, Programming reports to and works closely with the Program Director of the Craft Center to provide direction and support for program administration, the multiple components of nine studio facilities and equipment, and the staff, instructors, and student employees associated with the program.
The individual in this position supervises one Craft Center classified employee, 40 workshop instructors, and 25 student staff. The Assistant Program Director, Programming also serves as an advocate for the program and the value of involvement in lifelong learning and pursuit of creative endeavors. They will serve as a resource to and participating member of the larger EMU staff.
The typical schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 9:30am-6:00pm, but the position may be asked to provide support any days of the week the Craft Center is open, in the event of an accident, need for professional-level representation, for special events, or as otherwise needed to support the requirements of general operations.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in an arts-related field, OR 3 years full-time experience in administration in an arts-related field, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with and/or knowledge of one or more art/craft areas (such as ceramics, hot glass, woodworking, or metal sculpture), including knowledge of equipment/tools for areas of expertise.
• Two years experience with supervision or lead work.
• Demonstrated experience with coordination of programming.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in program promotion and marketing.
• Experience in art/craft facility management.
• Experience teaching workshops or courses.
• Master’s Degree in an art-related field.
Salary:Â $48,000 – $53,000 per year (updated); candidates with advanced skills and experience may be considered for a starting salary above this range.
