The Sapsik’ʷałá Program at the University of Oregon is looking for a part-time Program Coordinator. They are seeking a new colleague who can provide culturally sustaining leadership in the day-to-day operations of the Sapsik’ʷałá Program as part of a small but highly energetic, rigorously productive, and detail-oriented team that has big dreams for the University of Oregon’s College of Education to become the nation’s leader in Indigenous Education.

This is a .5 position (20 hours/week) with full state benefits (including access to medical/dental/optical/tuition program).  Additional hours are possible pending future grant funding. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting student success in the program, grant project management, outreach activities, among other related duties.

The Sapsik’ʷałá Program is a rigorous, 12-month program that prepares future Indigenous educators. Sapsik’ʷałá students receive a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Teaching in partnership with the UOTeach master’s / licensure program while gaining Indigenous methodologies for teaching. Federal grant funds cover student expenses, including tuition, books, a computer, living stipend, and dependent allowance, which Sapsik’ʷałá graduates pay back through service teaching for 2 years in a school that serves a high proportion of Native students. This position is funded by a federal grant from the Office of Indian Education. Indian preference applies.
