The following AFS members were elected to office starting in 2023:

AFS President-Elect (2023, to serve as President 2024-2025)

Amy E. Skillman (Goucher College)

AFS Executive Board (2023-2025):

Junious Brickhouse (Urban Artistry)
Ann K. Ferrell (Western Kentucky University)
Jerrilyn McGregory (Florida State University)

Nominating Committee (2023-2025):

Carrie Hertz  (Museum of International Folk Art)

295 members voted in the election, approximately 5% less than those who voted in the previous Presidential election.

We extend the gratitude of the entire Executive Board and staff to all of the 2022 candidates, who deserve thanks for their willingness to serve the Society and field, and for their energetic participation in the nomination and election process. The same appreciation is due to the members of the 2022 Nominating Committee—and in particular to departing Committee chair Anika Wilson—for their work to assemble this slate of excellent candidates, and to all our 2022 candidates for their willingness to serve the Society and field.

Our thanks also go to departing Executive Board members Amanda Dargan, Thomas DuBois, and Ellen McHale, and to departing Past President Norma Cantú. We appreciate your service and look forward to continuing to work alongside you for the benefit of AFS.

Incoming Nominating Committee chair Sarah Gordon, along with Committee members Guha Shankar, Fernando Orejuela and Carrie Hertz will be taking up the 2023 nominating process—which will elect three Board members and a member of the Nominating Committee—later this spring.
