AFS Announces Results of 2025 Election
The American Folklore Society Executive Board is pleased to announce the results of the 2025 election. The following AFS members were elected to office starting January 2026.Â
AFS Executive Board (2026-2028):
Susan Eleuterio (Goucher College)
Moira Marsh (Indiana University)
Nominating Committee (2026-2028):
Ian Brodie (Cape Breton University)
We want to extend the gratitude of the entire Executive Board and staff to all of the 2025 candidates, who deserve thanks for their willingness to serve AFS and the field, and for their energetic participation in the nomination and election process. The same appreciation is due to the members of the 2025 Nominating Committee—and in particular to departing committee chair Carrie Hertz—for their work to assemble this slate of excellent candidates.
Our thanks also go to departing Executive Board members Maribel Alvarez, Junious Brickhouse, Ann K. Ferrell, and Langston Collin Wilkins (who completed the term of the late Jerrilyn McGregory). We appreciate their service and look forward to continuing to work alongside them for the benefit of our Society.Â
Incoming Nominating Committee chair Naomi Sturm-Wijesinghe, along with Committee members Betty Belanus, Ian Brodie, and Kelley Totten, will be taking up the 2026 nominating process—which will elect a President-Elect, two Board members and a member of the Nominating Committee—later this spring.
Thank you for your support of our work and the field. May you find continued purpose and strength in the new year ahead.
