AFS welcomes Dr. Cassie Rosita Patterson as Special Projects Consultant and Garima Plawat, M.A., as the new AFS graduate assistant.

Starting in June 2022, Dr. Cassie Rosita Patterson joined AFS staff as a Special Projects Consultant. Cassie has been supporting AFS communication alongside Lorraine Walsh Cashman, and focusing on special projects, such as professional development and outreach activities with Jessica Turner and Notable Folklorists of Color with Meredith McGriff. Cassie draws on previous experience as the Associate Director of the Center for Folklore Studies at Ohio State University (2012-2021).

Garima Plawat joins the AFS staff in the role of graduate assistant. Garima is enrolled in the doctoral program of Folklore and Ethnomusicology at Indiana University. AFS will benefit from her editorial and research experience as we develop our digital and print communications. Garima will also assist AFS staff members in a wide variety of other projects.
