Center yourself in Albuquerque through care and wellness sessions scheduled each morning at the Annual Meeting.

Kapihan: Cultural Reclamation Sessions will take place Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM MST in Anasazi.

Storytelling and story sharing have been crucial in our cultures, especially for communities whose stories have been erased, whitewashed or suppressed. We tell our stories to remember. This is ancestral healing. This is medicine.

Join Filipina Queer Holistic Practitioner and Culture Bearer, La’arni Ayuma, a first-time AFS attendee  coming from Austin, Texas. As part of AFS new “Morning Wellness Offerings,” La’arni will lead participants in the compassionate space of Kapihan, where special coffee, teas, and stories will be shared.

Morning Wellness – Yoga with Daniel Friedlander takes place Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM MST in Nambé.

As part of AFS’ new “Morning Wellness Offerings,” join instructor Daniel Friedlander for free yoga. Yoga mats included, just come on down for one day or all three mornings—it’s up to you.

Daniel is a local yoga instructor who works with the University of New Mexico as well as Blissful Spiritus Hot Yoga in Albuquerque. He found his way to yoga back in 2009. A lifelong athlete competing in wrestling, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing, and kickboxing he was drawn to the physical asanas of a yoga practice. Six years in and only viewing it as a physical practice a way to become more “flexible” but after a life-altering tragedy, it was the many other gifts yoga offers you that had Daniel wondering what else he could learn from yoga.
