Call for Nominations: AFS Women’s Section’s 2020-21 Elli Köngäs-Maranda Prize

AFS News, Calls for Submissions, News from the Field

The Women’s Section of the American Folklore Society invites submissions for the Elli Köngäs-Maranda Student and Professional Prizes, which honor Köngäs-Maranda as a pioneering feminist folklorist. The prizes recognize superior work on women’s traditional, vernacular, or local culture and/or feminist theory and folklore. The section did not make awards in 2020 because of the pandemic, so we will award both the 2020 and 2021 prizes at the 2021 meetings of the American Folklore Society, October 18-23, online and in Harrisburg, PA.

The submission deadline is August 15, 2021. Prize recipients do not have to be members of the American Folklore Society. Submit prize materials by emailing EKM Committee Chair Patricia Sawin at [email protected]. More information can be found at the Elli Köngäs-Maranda Prize page.
