Join the First Meeting of the AFS Folklore and Climate Interest Group

A number of American Folklore Society members recently started an AFS interest group to address the intersection of folklore and climate issues. The meeting will be via Zoom on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. EDT.
Folklorists in academic, public, and applied settings are invited to participate in the first meeting to determine the name of the interest group and whether the group would like to focus primarily on the human dimension of climate adaptation or also include climate mitigation and physical adaptation.
For an introduction to the subject, see the workshop “Climate Change Needs Folklorists,” led by Maida Owens and archived on the AFS website.
The interest group will also meet at the 2022 AFS annual meeting, after a panel discussion about climate change response efforts in Louisiana. That meeting is scheduled preliminary program for Friday, 2:30-4:30 P.M., but that time may be subject to change.
Please join us if this is a professional or personal interest.
