The Hotel Reservation Block for the 2026 Annual Meeting in Asheville is Now Open

This year, the Annual Meeting will be held at the Renaissance Asheville Downtown Hotel, where our largest room block will be located and where most of our conference sessions will be located. Use the discount code LOR (think “lore”) to receive AFS’ negotiated rate.

Planning Your Reservation Dates

Because the 2026 meeting overlaps with the holidays of Halloween and Day of the Dead, and some members may prefer to travel home on Saturday for special events, the bulk of the meeting will begin Tuesday evening, October 27 and will conclude on Friday evening, Oct. 30. But we also encourage participants to stay through the weekend. Rather than offering pre-conference tours this year, the Asheville meeting will feature post-conference workshops and activities on Saturday, Oct. 31 with several of our local partners. We invite you to stay and participate in regional workshops and activities, Halloween and Day of the Dead events, and to explore the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina on your own.

There are a limited number of rooms at the Renaissance available Saturday, Oct. 31 through Tuesday, Nov. 3. Book early if you plan to stay for Halloween and Day of the Dead festivities or extend your stay to travel in the surrounding area.

A second hotel across the street from the Renaissance will offer another hotel block with rooms that are ideal for sharing. Those rooms will include in-room refrigerators and allow your family pets to join you. Booking information for those rooms will be coming soon and will be added here when it’s available.
