Virtual Poster Presentations: Consider a New Kind of Participation at the 2024 AFS Annual Meeting

Annual Meeting News

Poster sessions return to the AFS annual meeting this year! Thanks to added functionality with our new conference platform, we will be able to accommodate poster sessions as an online interactive experience in our virtual Poster Hall. Poster presenters will be named in the program and will have designated times for live engagement.

Posters are a great option for:

  • first-time presenters to dip their toe into AFS (and get a CV line!);
  • seasoned presenters to debut early works-in-progress, without a large burden of responsibility during the meeting itself;
  • and for presenters who need flexibility about whether or not they will attend the meeting in person.

Accepted poster presenters will be invited to add their poster in .jpg or .png format directly to the conference platform over the summer. **You do not have to have your poster ready before the submission deadline.**

The virtual Poster Hall will open by late summer or early fall, and annual meeting registrants will be able to view posters ahead of time, add comments and questions on the poster presentation page, and email presenters through the conference platform.

Poster presenters will also have a designated time for live engagement with conference attendees during the meeting in Albuquerque, but they do not need to come in-person to present. The platform supports breakout rooms during scheduled poster sessions for participants to focus on a specific poster.

We hope you will consider trying out this new take on an old presentation format! Please see some screenshots below to help you visualize the experience.

You can submit a proposal until midnight on April 10, 2024. Contact us at [email protected] with questions.
