319 members voted in the election, a larger number than in a typical year where there is no Presidential election, and similar to the number of members voting in an average AFS Presidential election.

We want to extend the gratitude of the entire Executive Board and staff and to all of the 2021 candidates, who deserve thanks for their willingness to serve the Society and field, and for their energetic participation in the nomination and election process. The same appreciation is due to the members of the 2021 Nominating Committee—and in particular to departing Committee chair Lisa Rathje—for their work to assemble this slate of excellent candidates, and to all our 2021 candidates for their willingness to serve.

Our thanks also go to departing Executive Board members Luisa Del Giudice, Fariha Khan, Tom Mould, and Emily Socolov. We appreciate your service and look forward to continuing to work alongside you for the benefit of AFS and the field.

Incoming Nominating Committee chair Anika Wilson, along with Committee members Sarah Gordon and Guha Shankar, and a representative from the AFS Executive Board to be appointed in early 2022, will be taking up the 2022 nominating process—which will elect our next President-Elect, three Board members and a member of the Nominating Committee—later this spring.
