Nikki Christensen received the 2022 W.W. Newell Prize.

The W. W. Newell Prize, sponsored by the Children’s Folklore section, is awarded to the best essay by students or emerging scholars on a topic in children’s folklore.

Christensen’s work “An Examination of the Inverse Riddle: Derived from the Traditional Riddle” captured the essence of the W.W. Newell prize. It showcased a new twist on a well-established genre and placed it within the broader context of the scholarship of children’s folklore.

David Puglia served as Co-Chair of the W. W. Newell Prize review committee.
