Stephen Lochetto receives 2022 W.W. Newell Prize

Stephen Lochetto received the 2022 W.W. Newell Prize.
The W. W. Newell Prize, sponsored by the Children’s Folklore section, is awarded to the best essay by students or emerging scholars on a topic in children’s folklore.
Lochetto’s work “Love, Loss and Blue Ribbons: An Ethnographic Study of 4-H Animal Projects in Rural Community Fairs” provides a new and interesting perspective on the performance and community of 4-H animal projects. Their work also presents an insight into how geography and tradition shape the outcome of those performances.
David Puglia served as Co-Chair of the W. W. Newell Prize review committee.
